Distraction

Allen Wynn’s archetypal sculptures celebrate the female figure and call up personal associations from all who see them. These figures represent any person, anywhere in the world, because the artist has freed them from extraneous detail and has stated their meaning in the simplest terms. A self-taught artist, Wynn has taken his impressions from childhood memories through recent experience and has interpreted them in a universal language.

Mystery Train

Iron Glove
is a one-person show featuring Elizabeth Fox’s paintings, which are a mix of intense detail offset by graphic spatial areas. Concise compositions depict stylized figures in scenes that tell a story. Often shown are the human condition of want for success and consumption of material items and food. The narratives utilize both humor and mystery. The viewer is faced with a lot of questions in a simple realm of pseudo reality. There is a weighty contrast of masculine versus feminine, and many figures are handled with a connection or a longing of relation. The show runs from Oct. 4 through Oct. 30.
